Stuka-Hog?
Interesting article that supposedly reveals a previously unknown history to the A-10 Thunderbolt, also known as the Warthog. Apparently the infamous Luftwaffe Colonel Hans-Ulrich Rudel helped consult with the development of what would eventually become one of the deadliest Close Air Support (CAS) tools in the U.S arsenal, the A-10. Rudel’s tactics as a Luftwaffe pilot provided impressive information on what a CAS required, drawing on the characteristics of the Junkers Ju-87 Stuka and Focke Wolfe 190 D-9.
Air Force officials downplayed the role Rudel had on input with the design of the A-10, which has been trying to retire the aging plane that they say cannot survive against a modern military force with proper anti-air equipment.
